Amr Moussa: I Think to Resign and Prefer "Isratine"
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 28 - 01 - 2009

"I launched the Arab initiative seven years ago to solve the Palestinian issue, but we have not seen a positive move. I am afraid that the initiative would remain discussed by world countries without a result. Since we will not face difficulty in the declaration of a Palestinian State, it is better to declare the state of Isratine. This is better than the establishment of a mourning tent for Palestine. "
By these words the Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa started his interview with the Al- Arabiya TV channel.  Moussa said he thinks to resign.

"The Palestinian cause has been burning between the Palestinians. There are still conflicts over power and posts between Fatah and Hamas and the losers are the Palestinians themselves."

In a strong reference to the belligerents to the reconstruction of Gaza, Moussa said: "The funds would be for the construction of Gaza and not to fill the pockets. No funds would be sent in bags."
The Arab League has submitted a proposal to form a supreme Arab Authority for the reconstruction of Gaza to end the conflict between Fatah and Hamas, Moussa said.
"The funds will not go to Gaza in suitcases, but they will be in the form of hospitals, schools and projects in accordance with specific mechanism for the reconstruction so that money would not go to the pockets of a certain party."

With regard to the problem of the Arab summits, which were divided between Doha and Kuwait, Moussa said: "Everyone held the Arab League responsible for the conflicts of summits, but I think that Qatar had a right to call for a summit days before the Kuwaiti summit because the situation in Gaza was serious.
This has not affected the Kuwait Summit. Among the oddity of the Arab world is the approval and then the withdrawal of the approval.  After we have become 14 countries, a state sent its refusal to attend, so we could not agree upon a specific case."
Moussa has described the Arab stance as a punctured ship that is sinking, hoping that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' initiative would fill the holes in the ship to float again.
