Sudanese security agents arrested influential opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi late on Wednesday two days after he called on Sudan's President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to hand himself into the International Criminal Court. The ICC accuses him of orchestrating the Darfur genocide and has issued an arrest warrant against him. "Twenty members of the security services went to his home by two cars and took Hassan Turabi without giving any explanations. They only asked him to go with them," Awad Babiker, director of al-Turabi's office, said. Bashir Adam Rahma, Secretary of the Popular Congress Party's foreign affairs, has also been arrested, Rahma's son said. Meanwhile, Sudanese planes have bombed a group of Darfur rebels stationed in the volatile southern region, according to a spokesman for the army and a commander in the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM). Both the government and the rebels are getting ready for more fighting.
