For the second time in a row in three days, political trends and national forces led by the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group, revolutionary socialists and a few leading figures of the Labor Party and the Kefaya Movement staged a protest yesterday in front of the Syndicate of Journalists amid tight security measures. They called for an end to Israel's blockade and aggression on Gaza and the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador from Cairo. Some 5,000 demonstrators took part in the protest chanting slogans of solidarity with Gaza and launching attacks at their country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as Egyptian and Arab diplomacy. Some demonstrators also raised images of late President Nasser. The demonstration was also joined by MB General Guide Mohamed Mahdi Akef, who also called for cutting relations with Israel. "We'll continue our rally until our demands are met and the Palestinian people are saved" he said. El-Karama Party co-founder Hamdeyn Subahi accused Arab rulers of connivance with Israel over the recent massacre and urged to help the "Palestinian brothers in Gaza". MP Saad Abboud called for a new uprising of the Palestinian and the Egyptian peoples and urged the Egyptian government to stand bravely with the Palestinians. During the demonstration, the MB managed to phone Umm Nidal Farahat, member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) and leading figure of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas. She described the situation inside the Gaza Strip. The demonstration then spread to the Bar Association and was joined by several people.
