Minister of foreign affairs, Sameh Shoukry met Monday African Union's envoy to South Sudan, Alpha Oumar Konare, to discuss peace accord, Al Bawaba News reported. Spokesman for ministry of foreign affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid said that the meeting dealt with the task entrusted to Konare, which is to follow up the implementation of the peace accord signed between the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit and his vice president, James Wani Igga. Konare stressed during the meeting, on his eagerness to listen to Egypt's assessment of the situation in southern Sudan and ways to overcome the challenges facing the peace accord. He expressed his fears concerning the survival of the peace accord in light of repeated violations of the accord, which risks turning the situation into complete chaos. Meanwhile, Shoukry pointed out to Egypt's full support to the African Union's efforts, which are aimed at achieving stability and peace in southern Sudan.
