Russian media outlets are claiming at least 448 hideouts and positions of Islamist radicals in war-torn Syria were bombed by Russian warplanes in the last three days. "Over the last three days, Russian jets made 137 sorties in the Syrian Arab Republic and destroyed 448 facilities of terrorist infrastructure in the provinces of Aleppo, Damascus, Idlib, Latakia, Raqqa, Hama and Homs," the Kremlin-controlled RT network quoted Russian defense ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov as saying Monday. A Nusra Front weapons depot was destroyed in Latakia province, said Konashenkov, adding that "a direct hit led to the destruction of four mortars and an ammunition depot." Nusra Front positions were also hit in Hama province, destroying a base where the group's armored vehicles were repaired. Konashenkov additionally claimed that in Idlib province Russian air raids hit a Nusra Front center that coordinated activity in both Idlib and Aleppo provinces. The statement also said an airstrike by a Su-24M bomber destroyed a hangar with four tanks and one armored personnel carrier (APC) inside.
