Security sources revealed Monday in a statement to Al Bawaba News that Ministry of Interior acquired new weapons and equipment in order for policemen to use in service. The new weapons and equipment, which have not used before by policemen, include heavy weapons and armored vehicles that have explosives detectors and surveillance cameras installed to the external body of the vehicle. These cameras are connected to central operations rooms, the sources said. Military factories of the Armed Forces made these weapons and equipment, which are able to fend off any kind of improvised explosive devices (IED), bombs and mines, after the increase in targeting troop carriers that amounted to six incidents during the week, leaving several dead and wounded.
