Egypt's Hermes Financial Group director, Karim Awad called for Egyptian government to use the inauguration of the New Suez Canal to promote for developmental projects in the region, Al-bawaba News reported Wednesday. "Egypt should use the event and launch promotion campaigns for the development of the Suez Canal axis national project." Awad stated, signaling to the necessity for the institutionalized promotion for investors and relevant sovereign funds, noting that international investors had showed enthusiasm to invest in the project. The Suez Canal axis development project occupies 461square-kilometers forming the largest economic zone in the Middle East, Africa and featuring mega-projects in spheres of logistics, marine services and handling containers in addition to petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, automobiles, textiles, electronics and telecommunications. The final plan for the project is scheduled to be announced during the opening ceremony of the new Suez Canal on Thursday. The project targets to provide a million job opportunities in its first phase from 2015 to 2030, and 2,5 million others in its second phase scheduled between 2030 and 2050.
