Bomb disposal experts defused Saturday four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai, Al-Bawaba News reported. Residents alerted military forces they had spotted two IEDs near the Sheikh Zuwaid Central Hospital and another two at the entrance to the city, security sources said. The IEDs, designated to be remotely detonated, were defused using water cannons, the sources added. Since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi July 2013, Egypt's Sinai Peninsula has been home to consecutive deadly blasts claiming hundreds of lives among security personnel and civilians. The IS offshoot, Wilayat Sinai has repeatedly claimed responsibility for the attacks.
