People in Japan have mocked the Islamic State's threats to kill two Japanese citizens by producing internet "memes" using stills from the ISIS ransom video. Published largely on Twitter, images of the two Japanese hostages kneeling on the ground while the executioner known as "Jihadi John" makes demands from the Japanese government, have been overlaid with images of popular Japanese cartoon characters or in one instance, making it seem as if the scene were taking place in Disneyland. The ISIS member "Jihadi John" has appeared in numerous hostage videos, including the executions of American journalists James Foley, Steven Sotloff, and British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning. In the video released Tuesday, the group demanded $200 million from the Japanese government within 72 hours or hostages Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa would be killed.
