Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra has condemned Saturday's bombing of the Algerian embassy in Libya. In a statement released this afternoon, Lamamra affirmed Algeria's wish to see a diplomatic end to the crisis in Libya, which in recent months has seen the worst violence in Libya since the uprising that overthrew longtime ruler Muammar al Gaddafi three years ago. Lamamra expressed hope that his country will be able to play a significant role in establishing a ceasefire and helping to strengthen Libyan institutions. A car bomb exploded in front of the gate of the Algerian embassy earlier Saturday in Libya. Two security guards were injured.
