Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab welcomed Friday Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe and his accompanying delegation, who are in a visit to boost bilateral cooperation, at Cairo International Airport. Japanese Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to enhance economic, scientific, cultural, and trade fields between the two countries. The Egyptian-Japanese economic and trade relations have reached an unprecedented positive progress in 2007/2008, where the trade volume reached an impressive milestone exceeding the level of US$ 3,45 billion in 2008 for the first time ever in modern relations. Many Japanese companies and investments achieved a remarkable success in the Egyptian market. Among them are Toshiba, Nissan Motors, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Otsuka, Sojitz, Sumitomo, Kobe Bussan and Unicharm. Also, new Egyptian products have been included in the trade balance such as processed food, building material, ceramics and others. The Egyptian exports to Japan climbed in 2008 to over US$ 1,6 billion, representing an impressive increase of more than 100% compared to what has been achieved during the previous year, According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs official website.
