THE SECOND week of the domestic football league resumes today. Zamalek hosts Enppi in Cairo, while Haras Al-Hedoud hosts Cement of Suez in Alexandria and Spinning Mehalla hosts Ismaili in Mehalla. Tomorrow, Tanta plays Misri in Port Said while Ittihad of Alexandria takes on Petroleum Assiut in Alexandria and Tersana faces El-Geish. The season started last Thursday. The first week's major upset came from Spinning Mehalla and Petrojet. Zamalek was beaten by Mehalla 1-0 in Cairo. Zamalek, last year's runners-up, is still without a president, Mortada Mansour still unable to regain his post although a court has allowed him to. The National Sports Council stands in the way of Mansour, who was stripped of the presidency by the NSC in June after a mass brawl he instigated in the Cup final. Veteran star striker Hossam Hassan returned to Zamalek after his contract with Misri was not renewed. However, Hassan, 40, insists he will not join the team officially unless Mansour returns as president. Petrojet, a newcomer to the national competition, upended El-Geish 3-2. In other matches, defending champions Ahli beat Tanta 2-0 in the opening of the competition, the Arab Contractors drew with Ittihad 1-1, Cement Suez beat Tersana 2-1, Ismaili smashed Misri 3-0, Olympi lost to Enppi 0-1 while Petroleum of Assiut lost to Haras Al-Hedoud 2-0. Abdel-Salam Nagaah of Tersana and Petrojet's Mahmoud Abdel-Hakim are top scorers with two goals each.
