♣ The local rock band Massar Egbari and Tunisian singer Latifa featured in the opening ceremony of the 10th Arabic Song Festival, held on Saturday at the Sayed Darwish Theatre in Alexandria. Undertaken in response to the invitation of Hani Mehanna, the head of the Union of Arts Syndicates, this is the band's first performance in the Arabic Song Festival. The ceremony started with the honouring of a number of remarkable music figures such as the name of the late Lebanese singer Wadie Al-Safi, Ali Al-Haggar and prolific poet Ahmed Fouad Negm. Revenues will be dedicated to the Musicians Syndicate in Egypt. Massar Egbari has recently launched an official website and android application through which fans can keep up with activities and hit songs. Following tours in Jordan, Lebanon and the UK, the band will perform live concerts across Egypt this winter, presenting new songs. The band has also performed covers for the great composer Sayed Darwish, infusing his tunes with a mix of rock and jazz. Massar Egbari is made up of Hani Al-Dakkak, guitarist and lead singer, Ayman Massoud, on keyboards and piano, Mahmoud Siam, guitarist, Ahmed Hafez, bassist, and Tamer Atallah (aka Toussy), drummer.
