Loud explosion in Giza was a plane breaking the sound barrier: Army spokesman Military spokesman Ahmed Ali says residents shouldn't be alarmed from the sound of flight training exercises over Giza governorate
An explosion-like sound heard in Giza on Wednesday afternoon that left local residents fearful of another bomb attack was later confirmed to have come from a military plane breaking the sound barrier. Army spokesman Ahmed Ali said that the planes had been flying over Giza governorate for a training session. Ali added that residents shouldn't worry or be disturbed by the sound from the overhead planes. The loud boom of noise on Wednesday sparked concern due to a proliferation of recent bombings across Egypt, including Cairo. The attacks have spiked across the country since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi, with nearly 500 police and army troops killed in the deadly bombings and shootings that have mostly targeted security installations and personnel. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/99183.aspx
