Real Madrid coach optimistic ahead of Champions League tie Carlo Ancelotti still has hopes of winning the treble this season after win on Saturday ends two-match losing streak
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has asked his players to concentrate in the remaining games of the season to win a potential treble. Cristiano Ronaldo scored before Gareth Bale netted a brace as Real Madrid routed Rayo Vallecano 5-0 at home on Saturday, breaking a rare two-game losing streak and keeping them within three points of the pacesetters. Last week, they lost 4-3 to arch-rivals Barcelona then 2-1 to Sevilla. "Naturally this win is important. Today we reacted well following two losses," Ancelotti was quoted as saying on the club's official website after the game. "We played a great game, with a good attitude on the pitch." The Spanish giants are scheduled to face Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. "This win serves to prepare well for the next game. In the last two games we made errors at the back. Today we didn't and we used the counterattack well. The back four were good." Real Madrid are third in the table with 73 points, two behind Barcelona, and three behind leaders Atletico Madrid. "We have to carry on, it's an important part of the season for all of us. We could be better given we lost twice, but physically we're good." Real Madrid are competing in three competitions: the La Liga, UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey. They will face Barcelona in the Spain Copa del Rey final on 16 April. "If we win all the games that we have left at least we win the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. We just have to believe in ourselves and be positive."
