Ahly remained in poor form on Monday as they conceded their second defeat in a row, this time a 1-0 loss against Dakhleya in a match that was rescheduled from the Egyptian League's 2nd matchday. Egypt international forward Ahmed Temsah caught the defence napping and hit the winner on 18 minutes to give his team their first-ever win against the Cairo giants. The Red Devils lost the league's Group A summit to Arab Contractors, who defeated them 2-1 last week, and fell to second place with 12 points after six games, while Dakhleya climbed up the table to seventh place with 7 points. Coach Mohamed Youssef's men started the game with early pressure that tried to put behind them their previous defeat against Arab Contractors, which ended their four-match winning streak. Youssef Sano deposed midfielder Hossam Ashour - who started in his first game of the season - to unleash Temsah behind the defenders who shot past keeper Sherik Ekrami. With striking duo Emad Meteb and Mohamed 'Nagy' Gedo absent in the match, Ahly posed a rare attacking threat despite the few attempts of promising striker Amr Gamal to reach the goal. Ahly had a goal disallowed at the half-hour mark for being offside, but a TV replay showed that Mohamed Naguib had been in a legitimate position. Dakhleya veteran keeper Ahmed Fawzy made some impressive stretches, denying the shy attempts of Ahly to keep his clean sheet. Coming back from the interval, Ahly mounted the pressure on their opponents, with coach Youssef trying to boost his offence by bringing in Ahmed Raouf and Omar Bassam for misfiring striker El-Sayed Hamdi and midfielder Ashour. In spite of controlling the game in terms of possession, Ahly failed to get anything out of the match as they lacked creativity against a compact defence.
