Shafiq's land sale case adjourned to Thursday
Hosni Mubarak's two sons, and his last prime minister, face charges of squandering public funds in the illegal sale of state land

Cairo Criminal Court has adjourned to Thursday a case against Hosni Mubarak's two sons and his last prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq, on charges of squandering public funds and facilitating the illegal sale of state land.
Shafiq, also Mubarak's former aviation minister, is being tried for facilitating the sale of 40,000 metres of land owned by the Association of Pilot Officers to Gamal and Alaa Mubarak at a lower than market price.
The three main defendants were not present in the courtroom.
Shafiq is being tried in absentia. He is currently in Dubai, having left Egypt after the case was opened. Mubarak's sons appeared in another court case on their father's complicity in the killing of peaceful protesters during the 25 January 2011 uprising.
The list of defendants also includes aviation ministry officials who were members of the Association of Pilot Officers.
The case was raised by former MP Essam Sultan before the presidential elections of 2012, in which Shafiq lost narrowly to Mohamed Morsi.
Shafiq has faced three cases concerning the illegal sale of state land. He was acquitted in one and is still on trial in two.
