The Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs was today informed that the consultative summit of the Nile Basin, planned to take place next Saturday and Sunday in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, has been canceled. “Egypt was informed of the cancellation today without any given reason,” said Mona Omar, assistant foreign minster for African Affairs. Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif was to head the Egyptian delegation attending the summit. Furthermore, Egypt has not received an invitation to participate in the exceptional ministerial meeting of the Nile Basin countries, scheduled to be held in Nairobi, Kenya on January 27.
