The EGX30, Egypt's benchmark stock index, climbed 1.16 per cent mid-way through Monday's trading. Most market blue-chips remained in the green, headed by Telecom Egypt and Orascom Telecom (OT), up 5 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively, and Ezz steel and Commercial International Bank (CIB), both up 2 per cent. Orascom Construction Industries (OCI), meanwhile, registered a decline of 0.1 per cent. On Sunday, the index closed down by 2.3 per cent for the day, due largely to turbulence in European markets on Thursday and Friday.
