Egyptian Foreign Ministry denies resumption of diplomatic relations with Iran Media claims that Iran had appointed a new ambassador to Cairo denied by both countries
Ambassador Menha Bakhoum, official spokesperson of Egypt's foreign ministry, has denied that diplomatic relations with Iran have resumed. Bakhoum told Ahram Online that Foreign Minister Nabil El-Arabi's meeting with Iran's ambassador Magbaty Amany did not touch upon this issue. Bakhoum added that a decision to resume relations can only be taken with the approval of both parties. The ambassador's declaration came in the wake of Iranian media reports claiming that Iran had appointed a new ambassador to Cairo. This was later denied by Iran's foreign ministry.
