3 protesters killed, 58 injured in Friday clashes across Egypt Two people were reported killed in Cairo and one in Fayoum in clashes between police and pro-Morsi protesters
Three people were killed and 58 injured in the Friday clashes that took place between supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and police, the health ministry said in a statement released on Saturday. Two people were killed in Cairo, and one person was killed in the governorate of Fayoum, south of the capital. Friday protests have been common since Morsi's ouster last July, despite a law issued in November which criminalises unauthorised public demonstrations. The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, an Islamist coalition that supports ousted Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi, has called for protests to coincide with next week's presidential election. A conservative estimate puts the death toll since Morsi's fall at well over 1,500 people, mainly Morsi supporters. Over 500 police and soldiers have been killed in bombings and shootings, which the government attributes to the Muslim Brotherhood. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/102091.aspx
