Deputy Chairman of the Asala Party, Mamdouh Ismail, said Egypt is experiencing a historic crucial stage for the first time through the People's Assembly's elections. Ismail assured Islamists would not be a “bridge” for any political trends to reach power. “Islamists are the people who were subjected to injustice the most, through imprisonment and arrests during former regime,” he said. “The Islamic parties' candidates have the right to be members in the upcoming People's Assembly,” Ismail said during an electoral conference for al-Nour Party in Giza Friday. He added the Islamic Alliance, which includes al-Nour Party, Asala Party, and the Building and Development Party, is able to free Egypt from corruption of the former regime. “We came to free Egypt from any corruption and any subordination to any identity other than Islamic identity,” said Ismail. Ismail attacked liberal trends, which criticized Islamists' gain of a large numbers of seats in the first round of parliamentary elections. “Those liberal trends rejected democracy after the first round's outcomes, and indicated the victory of the majority of the Islamic trend,” he said. He assured that the Egyptians chose who they trust and count on to build a new Egypt.
