CAIRO: New Israeli ambassador to Egypt Yaakov Amitai will arrive in Cairo next week to assume the post vacated by former ambassador Yitzhak Levanon, who left Cairo after demonstrators stormed the Israeli embassy in Giza on September 9, reported Kol Israel. The new ambassador will make a several day trip to Egypt and then return to Tel Aviv to discuss security considerations with the Israeli government, reported the paper, quoting senior Israeli Cabinet officials. Ambassador Amitai is a top expert and African and Arab affairs and was previously Israel's ambassador to Ethiopia, where he strengthened Israeli relations with Nile Basin countries. In other news, the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) reported that it does not seek a confrontation with the ruling military council over the formation of a new government, reported Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahranot. “The Brotherhood wants to live in harmony with other political powers in Egypt,” said MB General Guide Mohamed Badie.
