CAIRO: The Supreme Electoral Committee has not issued any decisions to stop the runoff elections in four Alexandrian constituencies, said head of the monitoring judicial committee Ahmed el-Gamal. Gamal said he sent a statement with the Alexandria Administrative Judiciary Court's verdict to stop elections in the third constituency polling station of Moharam Beik. He added that the decision did not include stopping the governorate's elections completely. 485 polling stations in the governorate received voters during the two day runoff in which 16 candidates competed for the professional seats. According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, 3,024,283 citizens are eligible to vote in Alexandria. The polling stations have 1,745 sub-headquarters with 3,349 sub-committees. The military forces in cooperation with Alexandria's Security Directorate are securing the stations. The first phase of elections witnessed turnout exceeding 60 percent. Voting has been cancelled in the third constituency because one of the candidates is wrongly registered as a worker seat candidate, when he is actually running for the professional seat. Two court verdicts have been passed to change the candidate from a worker candidate to a professional one but the verdicts have not been applied yet.
