Egyptian Minister of Education Ahmed Gamal Moussa today met with Egyptian Nobel Prize-winning scientist Ahmed Zweil in a closed meeting inside the minister's office. The meeting was convened to discuss the issue of magnet schools in science and technology and how it might be linked to Zweil's scientific institution. The minister called on Zweil to support the ministry with his experience in such institutions, particularly since they are widespread in the U.S. Zweil pledged to coordinate with the ministry to help develop the magnet schools. The Ministry of Education opened a school for students who excel in science and technology, located in the 6 of October City, a Cairo suburb, which is considered the first of its kind in Egypt. The ministry is planning to open five more such schools in other governorates.
