Published in Youm7 on 16 - 10 - 2011

Civil society organizations in Asyut, in middle Egypt, held a seminar to discuss how to guarantee the rights of handicapped persons to participate in elections.
The seminar discussed how blind and physically handicapped people will be able to vote in Egypt's upcoming elections for the first time.
The seminar was led by the General Secretary of Government Maj. Gen. Yaqoub Hassan Imam and attended by assistant Gamal Adam, Health Ministry Deputy Mamdouh Weshahy, Manager of Human Resources Directorate Hassan Hashim, Deputy of Youth and Sport Directorate Mohamed Khalil, representatives of Social Solidarity and other institutes.
The seminar discussed ways of solving problems that hinder the participation of the handicapped in elections by presenting a pattern to facilitate the voting process.
This will include electoral paper written in Braille, low cost, and a device that enables the physically handicapped persons to vote easily.
Principals assured that the achievements of Egypt's January 25 Egyptian Revolution have begun to appear in many fields, like freedom of expression and opinion, especially for handicapped people, for the first time in Egypt.
