CAIRO: The Indian Embassy in Egypt organized a tour for the largest Indian project in Egypt. The tour was sponsored by the Senimar Indian Group. This project is the biggest caustic soda producer in Egypt. The Indian company aims to produce 275,000 tons of caustic soda and 4,000 tons of polyvinyl chloride annually. The total investment in the project reached 1.3 billion EGP (U.S. $220 million). Senimar Group's annual net sales reach $U.S. 1.2 billion. The group works in many fields, including chemistry metal industry shipment and engineering. Senimar owns a factory that produces caustic soda in Port Said. Its productive power is 200,000 tons annually; current production is 120,000 tons annually. Senimar provides 600 jobs for Egyptians. The factory halted work for two months due to Egypt's January 25 Revolution. The project is considered the greatest Indian investment in Egypt. It will contribute to turn Port Said from a commercial zone into an industrial region. The project will also held Egypt avoid importing chemicals.
