CAIRO: Egyptian Minister of Education Ahmed Gamal el-Din Moussa resigned over the teachers' incentives problem. Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf refused his resignation and requested that Gamal proceed in discussions in the Council of Ministers about the value of the incentives. Gamal did not deny the news of his resignation during the press conference. He revealed there was a problem between him and the Minister of Finance about excluding examination bonuses from the total incentives of teachers. Gamal said he would be happy when he resigns his position because he suffered back pains during the past two months. He demanded the exclusion of bonuses, while the former Minister of Finance Samir Radwan first refused but then agreed before he left his office. When Gamal spoke to the new Minister of Finance Hazim al-Beblawy, he assured it is difficult to exclude bonuses from the total incentives due to the disability of the public budget of the state. In response to demands to exclude Gamal's assistant, Reda Abu Sree, Gamal said Reda is qualified and experienced in the field of education. He also has great language skills, which is why Gamal chose him as assistant. Gamal refused to classify employers according to their political backgrounds as long as they are qualified for the job they applied for. He commented on hiring a member of a Salafi party as a manager of a school in the governorate of Monufia. He pointed out the importance of private education and ensured he cares for the future of private education, considering it an essential factor in Egypt. He assured the ministry will release a decision requesting private schools to bring educationally qualified teachers in coordination with the Professional Academy for teachers.
