The director of the Center of Nuclear Safety, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, revealed details of meetings that took place in the past three days with EU experts regarding Egypt's nuclear facilities. The discussions included nuclear safety, safeguards and physical protection. Egypt's al-Dabaa power station produces electricity through nuclear energy. The president of the Center for Nuclear Safety told Youm7 that the meeting took place at the Center for Nuclear Safety at the Atomic Energy Authority and was attended by 40 experts from the Centre and six nuclear expert representatives of the EU. The attendees reviewed example devices of nuclear safety in different European countries, all regulations relating to system security and control of nuclear radiation in nuclear plants. Ibrahim said the meetings also addressed the EU's support for a first draft of the constitution of the first Egyptian nuclear and radiological authority. The draft awaits its constitutive document to be approved by the council of ministers but was shelved due to the distraction of the revolution.
