Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf has decided to postpone the opening of the National Museum of Suez, which was scheduled to open Thursday morning. Minister of Antiquities Zahi Hawass told Youm7 that the Prime Minister notified him of the decision to postpone the opening. He said the decision was a result of work the PM has to attend to in Cairo. Hawass said Sharaf's office will inform the Ministry of Antiquities of the new opening date soon. Egypt's Minister of Culture, Emad Abu Ghazi, was also absent from today's celebration of Suez as the Egyptian Capital of Culture, which was set for today. As a result, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Abdel Moneim Hashim, the Governor of Suez, was also absent from the celebrations organized by the General Authority for Cultural Palaces. Youm 7 learned that the Governor will head to Cairo today to meet with Prime Minister Sharaf.
