Zamalek to invite Egypt president to derby
Published in FilGoal on 19 - 07 - 2012

Zamalek will send an invitation to Egypt's newly-elected president Mohamed Morsi and commander in chief Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi to attend the derby clash against Ahli.
The Cairo rivals lock horns in the CAF Champions League group stage on Sunday, in a game that will be staged behind closed doors at the Military Academy Stadium.
In an attempt to coax authorities to recommence domestic football in Egypt, Zamalek have decided to invite the country's top officials to the big game.
“Zamalek will send invitations to the president, the Field Marshal and all government top officials to attend the game," Zamalek vice-president Sabri Serag told Dream TV.
“I hope they would agree to attend the match so that it would be a beginning to the resumption of football activity in Egypt."
The future of football in Egypt came under scrutiny in the wake of the Ministry of Interior's recent decision to sustain suspending domestic action, an announcement that triggered a state of dismay among all parties involved in the game.
It is believed that president Morsi, who has just been elected a few weeks ago, is an ardent Zamalek fan.
