Zamalek furious by Olympic 'discrimination'
Published in FilGoal on 17 - 07 - 2012

Zamalek boss Hassan Shehata accused Egypt Olympic team coach Hany Ramzy of being prejudiced against his club after the latter refused to release two Whites players for the Cairo derby.Ramzy's side are currently gearing up for the London Olympics later in July as the ex-Ahli star refused to allow Omar Gaber and Ahmed Al-Shennawi join Zamalek for next Sunday's Champions League clash against the Reds, who will also miss Shehab Ahmed and Saad Samir.
While senior Ahli trio Mohamed Abou-Treika, Ahmed Fathi and Emad Meteb were allowed to join their club, the decision infuriated Zamalek who are implying that Ramzy favors his former club.
“Ramzy's decision could reignite tensions between Ahli and Zamalek due to such a discriminatory stance," Zamalek boss Shehata told reporters on Tuesday.
“I'm baffled with his stubbornness against Zamalek by not releasing our two players as we agreed."
In the same context, Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas echoed Shehata's sentiments as he slammed Ramzy for breaking an alleged convention between both parties ahead of the Cairo derby.
Zamalek had earlier warned of a ‘fierce dispute' with the Olympic team management in case their international duo did not show up.
Despite the saga, Gaber and Al-Shennawi were both unlikely to start for Zamalek in Sunday's game.
