Egypt did very little to overturn their trailing to Central African Republic as they were held to a 1-1 draw in Bangui to miss out on the Africa Cup of Nations for the second year running.Hosts CAR - banking on a 3-2 away win from the first leg - were leading for most of the game after captain Foxi Kethevoama headed home midway through the first half. Emad Meteb equalized for Egypt in the 77th minute but Bob Bradley's team needed two more goals to win the tie. After the unprecedented failure to make the Gabon/Equatorial Guinea finals, the seven-time African champs will once again watch next year's competition at home. Surprise package Central African Republic complete the 30-nation pool of the final qualifying phase as 15 teams will make it to South Africa next year. Ineffective domination Egypt coach Bob Bradley made four changes to the side that lost in Alexandria, starting with Meteb, Hossam Ghaly, Ahmed Fathi and Sayed Moawad. At a full-house Barthélémy Boganda Stadium, the spirited CAR took a deserved lead when star man Kethevoama outmuscled Ahmed Fathi to head in past Essam Al-Hadari on 23 minutes. From that point the home side were just happy to sit back and play on the counter as Egypt did almost nothing to overturn their trailing, while Al-Hadari saved a certain goal from David Manga before the break. Striker Ahmed Mekki replaced defensive midfielder Mohamed Al-Nenni at half time and had a chance to grab a vital equalizer for Egypt just after the break, only to send the free header high in what seemed a relatively big chance for the visitors. But it was another sub who made impact for Egypt as Ahmed Temsah surged down the left before cutting back to Meteb, whose deflected shot went slowly into the net. Egypt couldn't make use of the momentum as Central African Republic even came close to scoring again on the counter on several occasions.
