Mansoura keeper Mahmoud Aboul-Saoud pulled off a string of impressive saves to prevent Masri from scoring in a 0-0 Egyptian Premier League draw on Friday. Aboul-Saoud justified his Egypt call-up after blocking numerous shots from hosts Masri at Port Said Stadium. Promoted Mansoura, who fought bravely in a 2-1 defeat to Ahli on Monday, could have even snatched a precious victory with 13 minutes remaining. A neatly-worked counter attack saw Adawi Akef race onto a through pass from Ali Diab to break clear of defense but his effort was thwarted by Masri guardian Ahmed Al-Shenawi. Mansoura lie 12th in the 16-team table with seven points from eight games, just one above the relegation zone. Masri are ninth on nine points. Gaish, who held last season's runners-up Ismaili to a 1-1 draw in their previous game, moved into third place after coming from a goal down to beat struggling side Asyut Petroleum 3-1. Sayed Abdul-Moghni gave Asyut the lead after 17 minutes but Gaish stormed back in the second half with a brace from Talaat Moharam and a goal from Ghanaian striker Ernest Papa Arko. Gaish have 14 points, three behind leaders Ahli who still have a game in hand. Asyut, who escaped relegation on the last day of the season last term, remain rooted to the bottom with three points.
