Chelsea beat Zamalek 3-2 in Champions League (+Video)
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 07 - 07 - 2012

CAIRO - Zamalek were stunned by Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey performence , who scored a hat-trick to give the Ghanaians a dramatic 3-2 Champions League win.
Chelsea lead Group B as Ahli and Mazembe clash on Sunday in Cairo.
The hosts came on firing on all cylinders and Clottey seemed to be the main source of danger from the first minute as he broke clear before seeing his effort agonizingly hit the bar.
Zamalek broke the deadlock against the run of play when Cisse latched onto a fine through pass from strike partner Ahmed Gaafar to dink the ball into the net over the advancing keeper.
Shortly after seeing his superb free-kick rattle the post, Clottey found the net when he headed home a Solomon Asante cross into Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed's net.
Cisse replied five minutes later when he capitalized on a defensive lapse to head home a loose ball into an net and put his side ahead.
Seconds after the break, Clottey stole the show once again after he ran onto a defense splitting pass to go one on one before rounding Abdul-Wahed and slotting home.
The match turned into an evenly-balanced affair with no real chances apart from two long-range efforts from Zamalek's Nour Al-Sayed, who was twice denied by goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.
But the action started near the end when substitute Ibrahim Issaku forced a superb block from Abdul-Wahed, who could only watch the next attempt end his side's hopes.
Issaku surged into the area before finding Clottey, who rolled in from close range to snatch the points for the Blues.
