Egypt's senior team ready for CAR tie
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 29 - 06 - 2012

CAIRO - Bob Bradley, the technical coach of Egypt's senior football team, asked the players to concentrate and show single-mindedness during their clash with the Central African Republic (CAR) away from home, Saturday at 4pmCLT in a 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Bradley urged them to abide by the technical staff's tactical instructions, Egypt's official Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.
“Coach Bradley explained the importance of sticking to the tactical instructions and achieving more than one goal in Bangui," said Zaki Abdel-Fattah, the goal-keeping coach.
Abdel-Fattah added that Bradley focused on the importance of moving without the ball and spreading well, to confuse the opponents and open gaps in their defence.
Two weeks ago at home the Pharaohs suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat in the first leg after achieving victory in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Guinea.
Bradley, the 56-year old tactician, said during a news conference before travelling to Central Africa: "We have witnessed the first game against the Central African Republic at home. The coaching staff and the players have learned from their mistakes and will not repeat them in the return leg.
“We put ourselves in a difficult position and must get out of it to compensate our fans for the defeat in Alexandria," said Bradley, who replaced long-time coach Hassan Shehata.
He also explained that the situation was difficult and quite complicated, but as long as the players had the will and determination to win, the obstacle of Central Africa could be overcome.
Bradley guided the US team through the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but they lost to Ghana in the second round after drawing with England in the group stage.
He noted that the Egyptian team didn't take advantage of the attack opportunities, which made it score only two goals and waste many chances.
“The defence line did not deal properly with counter-attacks, which led to three goals at the Pharaohs' net," he elaborated, stressing that the coaching staff explained all these mistakes to the players so they could be avoided in the future, starting with the CAR match Saturday.
