The trial of the former Interior Minister on charges of money laundering will be moved from the downtown courthouse to the New Cairo Court on Saturday, a judicial source said Tuesday. Habib el-Adli, who is also arrested on suspicion of ordering shooting at anti-regime protesters; will be tried on Saturday at the New Cairo Court instead of the Supreme Judiciary Court, Justice Abdul Aziz Omar, head of the Court of Appeals, added. Justice Omar said that that TV, radio, and newspaper correspondents would not be allowed to videotape, record or photograph el-Adli's trial procedures in compliance with a decree issued by the Supreme Judiciary Council last year. He added that the trials of former Housing Minister Ahmed el-Maghrabi; Akhbar el-Youm Board Chairman Mohamed Adli Fadli; Egyptian businessman Yassen Mansour and Emarati businessman would be held next Tuesday at the New Cairo Court instead of El-Abbassiya Courthouse of North Cairo. El-Adli and el-Maghrabu are among a number of former ministers and officials who have had their bank accounts frozen and been barred from leaving the country. The pair has been arrested pending the completion of an investigation into corruption. Adli is widely blamed for the deadly brutality used by riot police against demonstrators in massive protests that began on Jan. 25 and forced president Hosni Mubarak to step down Feb. 11. His trial is expected to be under heavy security to guard against any outbreak of violence. "This trial is seen as having a higher than usual security risk," Justice Omar said.
