CAIRO - The Administrative Justice Court rejected an appeal by the Prime Minister against an earlier court ruling that ordered the removal of police guards from university campuses, legal sources said. However, the presiding judge has upheld a ruling saying that policemen and Ministry of Interior personnel should be in charge of securing university buildings and facilities only. The ruling came after some of Cairo University's teaching staff members filed a lawsuit, saying the police, who answer directly to the Ministry of Interior, have been interfering with university affairs such as student elections, as well as banning political events that are frequently on campus.
