Egyptian and international films to be released in 2023

A large number of Arab and international movies had been filmed in 2022, but their makers preferred to release them in the new year. The genres of those films vary between comedy, thriller, and action.

Egyptian movies in 2023:
My Brother Above in the Tree
Alaa is an introverted young man who lives a healthy and organized life. His life turns upside down when his twin brother whom he never knew existed, Bahaa, Alaa's complete opposite on all levels, barges into his life. The film stars Ramez Jalal, Nisreen Tafesh, Mohamed Tharwat, Hamdi Al-Mirghani, and Tara Imad. It is directed by Mahmoud Karim and written by Louay Al-Sayyed.
Two for Rent
As the unemployed Safiha and Hamada are looking for a suitable job opportunity to earn a living, they decide to offer themselves for rent to whoever pays them to meet his demands as a means of making money. The film stars Bayoumi Fouad, Mohamed Tharwat, Rania Youssef, Merihan Hussein, Tharaa Jbeil, and Essad Younes. It was written by Asmaa Ghazy directed by Shadi Ali, and produced by Essad Younes.

Gurub Al Mamiz
A school WhatsApp group brings together three mothers from three different social classes, where Maryam and Nadia aren't getting along with their children, so the former Miss Egypt decides to help them bring them closer to their children, as she is a kind, cheerful mother who lacks discipline. The film stars Ruby, Yousra El-Lawzy, Darine Haddad, Mahmoud Hafez, Mohamed Tharwat, and Hazem Ehab. It was written by Ihab Blaibel and Ghada Abdel Aal, produced by Mohamed Rashidy, and directed by Amr Salah.

The Chasers
After his father passes away, Salah returns from America to receive his inheritance, and seeks to sell the property that includes a football club, which lands him in many unexpected situations. It stars Ahmed Hatem, Iyad Nassar, Tara Imad, Mahmoud Al-Zawy, Mahmoud Hafez, Mohamed Mahmoud, Mahmoud Al-Laithi. It was written by Salah Al-Geheiny, and directed by Yasser Sami.

Matrah Matrouh
Set during the 1940s in Egypt, where an accident causes an Egyptian employee and his family to be in danger during the outbreak of some war, and soon, a conflict erupts between the family and the foreign forces. The film stars Mahmoud Hamida, Karim Afifi, Shaima Seif, Aws Aws, Mohamed Al-Saadani, and Laila Ahmed Zahir. It was produced by Mohamed Al-Sobky and directed by Wael Ihsan.

Shalaby
The film follows the young man Saber, who works in a horror house in an amusement park, as he achieves his dream of designing a marionette doll called Shalaby, he soon goes through exciting events with his friends and neighbors in their pursuit of fame as they prepare a puppet show. It stars Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Ruby, Bayoumi Fouad, Mohamed Mahmoud, Hatem Salah, and Suleiman Eid. It was written by Mostafa Hamdy and directed by Peter Mimi.

Nabil El Gamil Plastic Surgeon
The film follows a plastic surgeon, Dr. Nabil, who owns a beauty clinic through which he is exposed to many comic situations along with his colleague. It stars Mohamed Henedy, Nour, Mohamed Salam, Rahma Ahmed, Mahmoud Hafez, Hajjaj Abdel-Azim, Ahmed Fouad Selim, Diaa Al-Mirghani, Mohamed Al-Sawy, Madline Tabar, and Shema Al-Sharif. It was directed by Khaled Marei.

Moghamarat Koko
The events revolve around the struggle between good and evil, not among humans but through a new perspective among animals inside a veterinary hospital. It stars Bayoumi Fouad, Khaled El Sawy, Sherine Reda and Aws Aws. It was directed by Youssef Kamal Rizk and written by Ihab Nasser.

The Squadron
The film is based on actual events and the Egyptian National Security's efforts against terrorist organizations through the incident of the massacre of 21 Egyptians in Libya, and the army's expanding operations in order to confront these terrorist groups. It was directed by Ahmed Nader Galal and written by Amr Abdel Halim. The film is likely to be released on 14 February to mark the anniversary of the air strike by the Egyptian Armed Forces and the Air Force in Derna, Libya, which was announced by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi against the terrorist group ISIS.

Day 13
A suspense horror thriller, filmed in 3D. The film stars Dina El-Sherbiny, Sherif Mounir, Ahmed Dawoud, Mahmoud Hafez, Arwa Gouda, and Nisreen Amin. The film's events revolve around Ezzedine, a young man who returns from abroad after years of absence to search for his family's palace, and he lives an unexpected adventure inside the haunted mansion. It was written and directed by Wael Abdullah.

Ala El-Zero
The film stars Mohamed Ramadan and Nelly Karim. It was written by Medhat El-Adl and directed by Mando El-Adl. The release date of the film has not been determined.

Tarot
It stars Somayya El-Khashab, Rania Youssef, Mai Selim, Mohamed Ezz, Abdel Aziz Makhyoun, Ahmed El-Tohamy, Mohamed Khamis, Mohamed El-Shanqairy, Youssef Mansour, Kenzi Ramah, and Saeed Yehia. The film revolves around three girls who had an accident that impacts their lives.

An Upper-Egyptian at the AUC – Part 2
Writer and producer Medhat Al-Adl revealed that they will film part 2 of An Upper-Egyptian at the AUC in 2023, on the 25th anniversary of its first part.

The Jeweler
A jeweler gets into many troubles and embarrassing situations because of his wife, resulting in many comedic situations. It stars Mohamed Heneidy, Mona Zaki, Lebleba, Ahmed Halawa, Tara Imad, Ahmed Salah Al-Saadani, Arefa Abdel Rasoul. It was written by Omar Taher and directed by Islam Khairy.

International films in 2023
Scream 6
The sixth part of the famous "Scream" series will be shown in March 2023, after the success of the fifth part. Mexican actress Melissa Barrera, American Jasmin Savoy Brown, American actor Mason Gooding, and American actress Gina Ortega are scheduled to return to reprise their roles from "Scream 5."

Creed III
Creed III is expected to be released in March, and the film's events take place in a dramatic framework. The movie stars Michael Bigorden, Tessa Thompson, and Jonathan Majors.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods
The second part of Shazam, which is an American superhero movie, based on the character of the same name, created by DC Comics, will also be released, and it will be the sequel to the first part that was shown in 2019, and it is also expected to be shown in March.

John Wick: Chapter 4
John Wick returns again in a new adventure during the fourth chapter of his epic story. The fourth part of the John Wick series of action films is expected to be released in March (starring Keanu Reeves, Lawrence Fishburne, Donnie Yen, and Bill Skarsgard).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie
The movie features Chris Pratt for the first time as Mario, along with other characters such as Anya Taylor and Jack Black. It will be released in April.

Evil Dead Rise
It is an American supernatural horror movie, and it is considered the fifth movie in the "Deadly Evil" series, and the movie stars Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, and it is scheduled to be released in cinemas in April.

Fast X
The tenth and final part of the famous "Fast and Furious" racing series will also be released in May. The new part revolves around Cipher's use of Jacob, Dom's younger brother, to take revenge on Dom and his team, starring Van Diesel, Charlize Theron, Song Kang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Natalie Emmanuel.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
The sci-fi action series "Transformers" returns with a remake of "Transformers: Rise of the Monsters", slated for release in theaters this June, and the film stars Ron Perlman, Anthony Ramos, and Peter Cullen.

Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning (Part One)
The seventh part of the Mission Impossible film, which is one of the most important American cinema films expected to be shown in cinemas, will be released in June.

Dune: Part Two
Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson. The film is about the struggle of the son of a noble family to protect the galaxy's most precious possessions. Zendaya will play the female lead in the sequel, with the sequel likely to be released in November

Barbie
Barbie doll lovers are on a date with the movie "Barbie", one of the most eagerly awaited films in July, starring Ryan Gosling as "Ken" and Margot Robbie as "Barbie". The story revolves in a comic framework around the world of "Barbie" and "Ken", and it is unlikely that the movie will be a musical, but it is likely that it will include several shows as well.
