SCZone signs MoU with Japan's Toyota Tsusho for infrastructure projects
Published in Daily News Egypt on 18 - 08 - 2022

Waleid Gamal El-Dein, the chairperson of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Japanese company Toyota Tsusho in the framework of the cooperation between the two parties.
The MoU targets several projects that include new infrastructure and developments related to decarbonisation policies. The projects will include logistics, renewable energy, water support, green and blue hydrogen production, and green and blue ammonia production.
The MoU was signed by Gamal El-Dein and Tokuji Koyama, the General Manager of Infrastructure and Energy Projects at Toyota Tsusho, in the presence of Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, Oka Hiroshi.
"We have a strong partnership with Toyota, especially since Toyota Tsusho is one of the partners among the consortium of Toyota Tsusho Bollorie NYK, which operates and manages the Suez Canal car handling Station (Ro-Ro berth)," Gamal El-Dien said .
"We appreciate this partnership, especially in coinciding with the global shift towards green energy. Our cooperation will be beneficial worldwide as SCZone qualifies to be a global hub for the production of green fuel and ship bunkering. We have a vision that includes supporting the Japanese industries in Egypt and we are looking forward to more constructive and fruitful cooperation," he added.
Tokuji Koyama said: "We are thankful for the warm reception that we get from SCZone. It is extremely important to cooperate and create more investment opportunities between Toyota Tsusho and SCZone. We realize the importance of this partnership, because of the importance of SCZone's location and our mutual interest in the blue ammonia projects coinciding with Egypt's hosting COP27 next November."
