Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has followed up on the land reclamation projects carried out by the Egyptian Countryside Development Company.
This came during a Tuesday meeting attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly; Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Mohamed Abdel-Aty; Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Elsayed Elkoseir; and Chairperson of Egyptian Countryside Development Company, Amr Abdel Wahab.
The presidential spokesperson stated that the meeting discussed the status of the 1.5 Million Feddan Project that is being implemented across Egypt within the scope of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company.
It also reviewed the infrastructure of road, electricity, communication and irrigation networks nationwide, especially in Minya, Manfalut, Toshka, Al-Maghrah, Siwa, Farafra, and Al-Tor.
Nevertheless, the president reviewed efforts made over the previous period to develop and maximize the benefits of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company, particularly the application of governance and rational management rules; the establishment of accurate databases to follow up and monitor the status of lands; the development of a basic system for coding the company's lands; and the preparation of a comprehensive marketing plan for the company's lands.
The President directed all concerned authorities to explore any current challenges that may have risen and are impeding the progress of the project, particularly concerning irrigation water supply and quality and infrastructure components, especially those related to roads pavement, electrical feeding systems, and wells development.
He also directed the concerned parties to look into the localisation of other activities on the company's lands to make the best use of the project's productivity.
The meeting was also attended by Advisor to the President for Urban Planning, Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO), Walid Abul-Magd.
