Modern Pentathlon World Cup kicks off at American University in Cairo
The Pentathlon World Cup will run from 22 to 27 March, with the participation of 200 male and female athletes from 35 countries.

The Modern Pentathlon World Cup will kick off on Tuesday at the stadiums of the American University in New Cairo.
The Pentathlon World Cup will run from 22 to 27 March, with the participation of 200 male and female athletes from 35 countries.
The championship competitions will start with the women's qualifiers, while the men's qualifiers will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 March. The women's semi-finals will be held on 24 March while the men's semi-final will be held on 25 March. On Saturday, 26 March, the women's final will be held, followed directly by the men's final, and the tournament concludes on Sunday, 27 March.
After the conclusion of the first day's competitions, the press conference for the championship will be held at 5:30 at the American University in the presence of Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Dalal, President of the American University in Cairo, Klaus Schuermann, President of the International Modern Pentathlon Federation, Hisham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, and Sherif El-Erian, President of the Egyptian Federation and Vice-President of the International Federation of Modern Pentathlon, in addition to members of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Federation and representatives of the International Federation, the Egyptian Olympic Committee and some players and coaches participating in the tournament.
Egypt will participate in the championship competitions with a full team of 24 players, 12 males and 12 females.
They are: Islam Hamid – Mohamed Hossam – Ahmed Ashraf – Mohannad Tarek – Noureddin Karim – Iyad Al-Kashef – Moataz Wael – Omar Wael – Mohamed Osama El-Gendy – Youssef Al-Qarni – Saif Al-Bandari – Mustafa Amr.
The female players are: Heidi Adel – Noreen Boulos – Salma Ayman – Maya Mohamed – Amira Qandil – Malak Khaled – Hania Abu Bakr – Arig Sarhan – Zina Amer – Jannat Walid – Jana Attia – Habiba Ramadan.
The Egyptian modern pentathlon team is led by a technical staff consisting of 46 coaches for the adult, junior, and youth teams.
The number of participating countries in the tournament has reached 40: Afghanistan, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Côte d'Ivoire, the Czech Republic, France, The Gambia, Georgia, Germany, Britain, Guatemala, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Kuwait, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Mauritius, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, UAE, America, Uzbekistan, in addition to Egypt, the host country.
After the end of the Cairo tournament, the second World Cup will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from 26 April to 1 May, then the third World Cup in Bulgaria from 10 to 15 May, followed by the World Cup in Turkey from 7 to 12 June, then the World Cup final is scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 June in Turkey.
The Modern Pentathlon World Cup is an annual series of modern pentathlon competitions organised by the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM).
The Pentathlon is an Olympic sport entailing five distinct types of competition, which are fencing, freestyle swimming, equestrian, and a final combined event of pistol shooting and running (the laser-run).
