Development of Alexandria seaport to turn Egypt into world trade hub: Transport Minister
Cost of logistics zone development in Alexandria amounts to EGP 1bn

Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir has affirmed that the state aims to develop the Alexandria seaport to transform Egypt into a hub for global trade and logistics.
During President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's visit to the Alexandria seaport to inspect the development process in its facilities on Tuesday, the minister reviewed the latest developments of both El Dekheila and El Max ports which will be completed by the end of 2024, so that Alexandria will be one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean.
He added the project also implemented President Al-Sisi's directives to link sea and dry ports with logistics zones, the most important of which is the "Sukhna-Alexandria" axis, passing through industrial zones, dry ports, and logistics zones.
The minister said that logistics and goods distribution centres will be linked directly to the Alexandria Seaport through an integrated multimodal network, whether land, rail, or river transport, to increase the circulation in the port, increase the spaces available for storage services, and provide opportunities for value-added activities.
The Egyptian minister noted that the development of the first logistics zone, with an area of 273 feddan, cost an estimated EGP 1bn, located in the Metras Basin. The second logistics zone, with an area of about 12 feddan, is located in Nagaa Aso and Nagaa Aluminum.
