Egypt's Marwan El-Shorbagy—ranked seventh internationally—was named ‘player of the month' by the Professional Squash Association (PSA), referring to to his performance in February.
The 23 year-old champion reached the Windy City Squash Open 2017 final, after triumphing against his brother Mohamed, who is ranked first internationally.
Marwan met Mohamed on the court seven times previously. All those seven encounters were in Mohamed's favour. Marwan, however, finally won in the eighth encounter and defeated his 26 year-old brother.
Furthermore, champion of the Winnipeg Winter Club Women's Open 2017, which took place in her country in February, Canada's Samantha Cornett—ranked 44th internationally—was named female ‘player of the month' for February.
One of Cornett's greatest victories was defeating New Zealand's Joelle King— previously ranked fourth internationally and currently eleventh—in the Windy City Squash Open 2017's first round with a score of 3-1 (11-13/11-7/15-13/11-9).
