Ammaq publishes statistics of attacks against army, police in North Sinai
Ammaq agency stated that 'Sinai Province' killed 35 army and police conscripts throughout the past three months
Published in Daily News Egypt on 01 - 10 - 2016

Islamic State (IS)-affiliated media outlet Ammaq published an infographic on Friday evening, illustrating the different types of attacks against army and police forces during the past three months in North Sinai.
The infographic claimed that IS-affiliated militant group ‘Sinai Province' killed 35 police and army conscripts through sniping operations. The majority of sniping operations were carried out in Rafah in North Sinai.
Meanwhile, the group assassinated two police and army officers, in addition to a non-commissioned police officer and an army collaborator, according to Ammaq.
In the same context, the group targeted seven M113 tanks, three MRAP, two M60 tanks, three YPR, and five army hummers. The majority of those attacks were executed in Sheikh Zuweid.
Besides targeting army and police officers in North Sinai, several civilians are subjected to hijacking operations from ‘Sinai Province', due to the latter suspecting them to be collaborating with the army.
Moreover, ‘Sinai Province' frequently released footage showing the group executing residents of North Sinai on charges of espionage with the army against the IS-affiliated group.
North Sinai has been a focal point of confrontation between the Egyptian security apparatuses and Islamic militants, of which several claim to be affiliated to IS. Since 2013, following the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi, the militants have launched several deadly attacks against army stationing points.
