ITIDA signs agreement to develop IT exports
Published in Daily News Egypt on 04 - 12 - 2013

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Schneider Electric in line with ITIDA's plan to develop Egypt's IT exports, according to a Ministry of Communication and Information technology statement.
The agreement, the ministry said, is aimed at strengthening the Egyptian IT sector and its competitiveness on local, regional and international levels.
The move would also create new job opportunities, as the agreement is primarily focused on training workers at Schneider's regional centre in order to help develop its exports of technical support and customer service to regional markets.
Schneider Electric is a France-based multinational corporation specialised in energy technology and management. The Egyptian branch cooperates with the public sector to generate, transport and distribute energy, the statement said.
The memorandum of understanding was signed between the CEO of ITIDA, Yasser El-Kady, and Administrative Manager of Schneider Electric Albert Focher.
El-Kady was quoted in the statement as saying that this memorandum reflects the company's desire to develop the regional centre's exports business "through multiplying the number of employees at the centre over next two years."
He added that the initiative confirms the company's role in opening new horizons for other sectors such as energy to export IT services.
Schneider Electric has more than 800 employees and two factories in Egypt providing services to Egypt and Middle East.
