Egyptian delegation to join World Dental Congress
Published in Daily News Egypt on 25 - 06 - 2007

CAIRO: The Annual World Dental Congress to be held in Dubai next October invited members of the Egyptian dental community to attend a press conference on June 24.
Egypt is a very important station in the Arab world . this is the first time FDI (Fédération Dentaire Internationale) holds a conference in the Mena region, and we want to reflect the knowledge and how advanced the dentistry section is in the Arab world, Dr Ahmed Al Banna, the deputy chairperson of the organizing committee said.
Dentistry professionals will give lectures on the latest developments in the field. The conference will include discussion forums where the global dental community will exchange information about related technological and clinical advances. There will also be exhibitions displaying the latest products and services in the oral health trade and industry. The conference will also be broadcast live from a dental implant surgery in Germany.
Emirates Airlines will be sponsoring the event by transporting participants from all over the world and has booked 40 hotels in Dubai.
We managed to invite 4,000 dentists from India alone. Al Banna said.
International conferences are for the elite Egyptian dentists who are already financially capable of traveling on their own; we do not support conferences outside Egypt, Dr Murad Youssef, head of Egyptian Dental Syndicate said.
The Egyptian Dental Syndicate will send first notice to affiliate syndicates all over the country at the beginning of September.
Youssef expects 30-40 percent of Egyptian dentists to participate.
The FDI is a federation of dental associations that aims at bringing together the world of dentistry, representing the dental profession of the world, stimulating, and facilitating the exchange of information across all borders with the aim of optimal oral health for all people, the organization's website reports.
Annually, the FDI holds a similar international conference. Egyptian dentists used to participate as lecturers in the 80s, but this year, Egypt will not participate, said Youssef. Noticeably, dentists from Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and UAE will give lectures at the conference.
We have Egyptian scientists in dentistry, but they do not publish research on an international scale, Youssef said.
The Conference will be held in Dubai on October 24 until 27th.
