Award is the biggest design award in the world worth €500,000 and is given ONLY to design that improves life for people. The winners of INDEX: Award 2013 have been selected by a professional, international jury between 1.022 nominations from 73 countries – all aiming to solve global problems like water shortage, food waste, climate change and overpopulation with design. The unveiling of the winners takes place under a signed embargo, as the winners are not revealed to the public until Thursday evening, and the press conference will – among other – be attended by the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, as well as the five award winners.
