KUALA LUMPUR: The Galaxy Note II is being pushed at the potential driver for Samsung Malaysia's sales for the current year, the company said of the upcoming launch last Friday. The head of Samsung's mobile phone division, Vincent Chong Weng Kai said the company's target was achievable based on the response to the first generation of smart devices in the local market before. “The company expects sales of the smartphones to increase threefold compared with the first-generation Galaxy Notes,” he said. The company is confident the mobile phone segment will continue to contribute to its sales for this year. The launch, which is to occur in the near future, has Malaysian technology aficionados excited about more products on the local market. Local mobile shop owner Emret told Bikyamasr.com that “this will help continue to see solid sales. We are selling smartphones and pads like crazy the past year and I think the Galaxy Note II will keep us strong going forward.” Malaysia is seen as a technology hub for Southeast Asia, and the introduction of the trendiest items are likely to be a boost for the local economy and mobile phone industry, which Samsung hopes they can capitalize upon.
