CAIRO: Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood reiterated its stance on the use of violence on Sunday ahead of the announcement of the presidential election results, saying their protests would remain peaceful. The statement, published by its official English language page Ikhwanweb, added that it would continue protests indefinitely in Tahrir Square until the military's power is curtailed. “Our protests will remain peaceful and we will not leave #Tahrir until the people's' demands are met, including recent #SCAF decrees,” Ikwhanweb wrote on its Twitter page an hour before the results were to be announced. Tens of thousands of protesters, including the Muslim Brotherhood, the April 6 Youth Movement and other revolutionary groups have been protesting in Cairo's iconic Tahrir Square for the past week after the military passed a serious of constitutional amendments that have given them near complete control over the country. Activists say the moves are tantamount to a “military coup” on the revolution.
